For 10 years scientist had been unable to solve the riddle of an enzyme that was believed to hold the key to curing AIDS. As a last ditch effort, they threw a question out on the internet: is there anyone that can figure out this enzyme? Ten days later the ten year old riddle was solved.
Herman Cain’s 999 plan; Rick Perry’s flat tax; even Newt has a tax reform plan. Finally, we’re talking about trashing the current tax code. Even if we disagree on the how, can at least agree that the current tax code is a mess. We all know there is a problem that needs a solution.
I’ve enjoyed the debate about “how” to reform the system. Yea, it gets heated at times and some are more interested in promoting a candidate than constructive debate, but for the most part this is the most substantive debate on a major issue we’ve had in a long time. Just like the AIDS enzyme problem, when you have people all over the internet working on a problem, they come up with solutions the experts overlooked.
